Callie became agitated by her mother’s decision.Ĭallie doesn’t like the clothes she wears or her hair when she goes to school on the first day. She had “precious amber waves of grain”, but one of Calliope June’s ticks is she would take her hair, “twirl them once twirl them twice yank them out.” Until one day her mom takes matters into her own hands, and cuts hacks, and chops it off. The second problem in Callie June’s life is the stress of moving, and waiting for it to happen. But seeing how people look and treat her differently takes a toll on her as she tries to make new friends. ![]() What complicates Callie’s world is obviously her Tourettes. She doesn’t want to move again and make this rock number 12. ![]() But with the Student Body President, Jinsong, living next door, it’s hard for Calli to find some time where she can breathe a little, and not hide her Tourettes. George, Utah, Calli tries to hide her TS. Every rock inside her carton is a memory from a place they have lived. Every time her mom gets dumped by a new boyfriend, they “g rab the keys/pack the car/hit the road/don’t look back.”Ĭalli keeps an egg carton filled with rocks inside of it.
